Employment

Over the three phases of construction employment will fluctuate between 300 and 400 positions. There will be approximately 125 permanent jobs during operations.

Newfoundland LNG Ltd. is committed to hiring residents of Newfoundland and Labrador for all stages of the project. When the project is sanctioned, hiring plans and policies will be put in place to ensure that first consideration for training and employment opportunities are given to the residents of Newfoundland and Labrador. Newfoundland LNG Ltd. is also committed to equity employment. An employment equity plan will also be developed for the project.

Depending on the availability and skill-set of contractors at the time of site construction, all contractors used for construction of the project will be from Newfoundland and Labrador.

This construction phase includes build out of three jetties, one tank and one reliquefaction unit over three years. Total construction trade man years for this Phase is 630 years. Additional construction trade & engineering man years for each additional tank is 310 years. Additional construction trade & engineering man years for additional deliquefaction plant is 30 years. Total potential man years for construction trades & engineering for full build out is 2,830 years.
